접미어 -ette는 다음의 3가지 의미를 가지고 있습니다.

1. small | used with some nouns to make nouns describing something small 

2. women | used with some nouns to make nouns referring to women

3. counterfeit | used with some nouns to make nouns meaning a substance that looks like something else

 

그리고 각각의 의미에 대한 예시는 아래와 같습니다. 

1. small

 

‎- bachelorette | 미혼여성

- brunette | 흑갈색 머리의 백인 여성

- coquette | 요부

- farmerette | 농장에서 일하는 여자

- majorette | 여성 고적대장

- suffragette | 여성참정권 운동가

- usherette | (극장의) 여성 좌석 안내원

 

3. counterfeit

- glassette | 인조보석
- leatherette | 인조가죽
